This article documents how a capacitance measuring device was made using an Atmel atmega8 microcontroller. The readout is on a standard 16x2 characters LCD and the device can be calibrated. The EEPROM is used to save the calibration.

The goal was to get a passively cooled graphics accelerator. Aiming for a super lownoise box, it is also important that the card doesn't generate much heat, as it will increase the demand for cabinet air flow, and thus, fan noise.
